​Why should you donate to Save the Horses Rescue?

  • Longstanding Commitment: Save the Horses has been tirelessly saving animals in need since 1998. With over two decades of dedication to rescuing and caring for horses and other animals, we have a proven track record of making a lasting impact.
  • Financial Challenges: Horses are large, expensive animals to care for. Save the Horses faces significant financial challenges in providing proper nutrition, veterinary care, and shelter for these animals. Donations are needed to alleviate this financial burden and ensure continued care.

  • Lack of Government Funding: Equine rescues like Save the Horses receive no government funding, leaving us reliant on private donations and grants to fulfill our mission. As a result, we are self-sustaining with the support of volunteers and generous donors. 
  • Dedicated Team: The Volunteer Angels who stand by Cheryl Flanagan's (founder) side are the driving force behind the rescue's day-to-day operations. These individuals generously give their time, energy, and love to ensure the well-being of every animal in their care. Their devotion to the cause goes beyond the call of duty, as they work tirelessly to provide these animals with the love and attention that is invaluable in the rehabilitation process.
  • Transformation and Trust: Save the Horses specializes in rehabilitating abused, neglected, and abandoned horses. Through our efforts, these animals learn to trust humans again and are given a second chance at a better life.
  • Community Involvement: Save the Horses actively engages the community, fostering a sense of responsibility and compassion towards animals. We would like to improve financial resources to expand our outreach and educational programs.
  • 501(c)(3) Status: Save the Horses is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.  We also have no employees (volunteer only), which means that any funds  received will be used for the benefit of the animals and would be tax-deductible for the grantor.

The average horse costs $400 a month, just to cover the basics (outside of the cost of medical care.)
We currently have 100 horses on our farm so we are in need of financial donations to continue our rescue and rehabilitation efforts.  All donations are tax deductible.  Tax ID: 58-2479748

Who gets your donation?
Malnourished, abused, crippled, old and injured horses need love and care. We help the neediest horses and give them hope. They learn trust and love from humans.

Needs: 
Need donations to pay vet and feed bills. We always need hay, horse feed, fencing, farm equipment and more.
